Randall Cobb Practices, Could Play Sunday

Cobb could play this weekend, but is not a smart start

Packers wide receiver Randall Cobb makes it back to practice Wednesday for the first time since sustaining a broken leg on October 13th. It’s possible that he could be activated for Sunday’s contest with the Steelers, but due to uncertainty, he should not be relied on for help in the fantasy playoffs.

Randall Cobb took part in individual drills on Wednesday, making it possible that he is cleared to play by Sunday. Even if he does manage to get clearance, he will most likely have a limited role in Green Bay’s game plan. Another major detriment to his possible success is the probability that quarterback Aaron Rodgers will not be able to make the start due to his collarbone, leaving Matt Flynn in control of the offense.

Rodgers definitely ups the value of all of his receivers when playing, but with Matt Flynn, distribution to the targets is less of a guarantee.

The odds continue to stack up against Cobb as he faces a strong Steelers pass defense. They have allowed only 222.4 passing yards per game, ranking them 8th in the league.

Randall Cobb should be avoided in fantasy leagues across the board, regardless of whether or not he is able to suit up for Sunday.
