Week 14 kicks off with Thursday Night Football as the Houston Texans travel to Jacksonville to take on the Jaguars. While these two teams are likely battling for the first overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft, both teams have players who will are likely on your fantasy teams.
Andre Johnson- Houston’s Andre Johnson has continued his dominance in the NFL this season, recording 82 receptions for 1,123 yards and 5 touchdowns. Fantasy owners should be happy to see him facing the Jaguars this week. The Jaguars have the league’s 10th worst pass defense. Through his last five games, Johnson has recorded 539 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns. Start Andre Johnson.
Ben Tate- With Arian Foster out, Ben Tate has yet again been showing that he is deserving of a starting role in the NFL. Last week against the New England Patriots, Tate rushed for 102 yards and 3 touchdowns. He will face an almost equally struggling rush defense in the Jaguars, who rank 4th worst in the league, allowing an average of 130.4 yards per game. Start the hot Ben Tate.
Cecil Shorts- Not much has been impressive about the Jacksonville Jaguars this season, however wide receiver Cecil Shorts has been a pleasant surprise this season. Through twelve games, he’s hauled in 64 receptions for 764 yards and two touchdowns. Unfortunately for Shorts, the Houston Texans possess the league’s second best pass defense, allowing an average of just 187.9 yards per game. Fantasy owners would be wise to keep Shorts on the fantasy bench this week.
Mercedes Lewis- Jacksonville tight end Mercedes Lewis has struggled since returning from injury in Week 7. Through six games, Lewis has recorded 143 yards and a single touchdown. With Houston’s top notch secondary coming to town, fantasy owners should definitely sit Mercedes Lewis.
