There has been some more frequent sightings of another running back emerging in the Jacksonville offense. Maurice Jones-Drew has been a staple in the Jaguars offense for may years, but backup Jordan Todman has been slowly worked into the offensive attack.
Todman actually got double-digit carries in Week 12’s win over the Texans and will be getting even more action in the weeks to come. At this point in the season, the Jags have nothing to lose by letting Todman gain more experience.
Todman saw a season-high 11 carries last week against the Houston Texans. Jones-Drew saw 14 carries but was able to rush for 84 yards and a score. Mojo also had 60 receiving yards compared to the miniscule 5 receiving yards that Todman produced.
The main point to underline here is that Todman is no threat to Maurice Jones-Drew, even though Jacksonville offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch says that the timeshare between Jones-Drew and Todman will continue.
