St. Louis Rams running back Zac Stacy has been cleared to play on Sunday, just 5 days after sustaining a concussion. This young Rams team will need all of their weapons available as they take on the division rival San Francisco 49ers. Stacy, who has been a happy revelation this season, will need to play his absolute best.
In the Rams 42-21 beat down over the Chicago Bears, they lost 3 players to concussions. Stacy was the most valuable of all of them. Reshaping themselves into a run-first football team, much of their recent success has come at the feet of Stacy.
As a rookie 5th round draft pick out of Vanderbilt, Stacy wasn’t expected to be as productive as he’s been. But through the 7 games, he’s averaging 4.4 yards per carry totaling 624 yards with 4 touchdowns. He’s repeatedly proven himself to be a tough guy, so it’s hard to believe any lingering effects of the concussion will impede his play.
It’s a risky start against a bruising 49ers defense, but it’s worth it. Stacy is a consistent running back who has the potential to breakout in this game.
