Owen Daniels is not even close to returning to the football field and you can pretty much count him out for the next two to three weeks, according to the Houston Chronicle. Daniels can’t even run without pain and any ideas about returning before Week 15 are shot.
The 31 year old out of Wisconsin has been out since Week 5 with a fractured fibula. Daniels was initially only expected to miss a few weeks, but his stint on injured reserved increases with each setback.
Daniels was off to a pretty good start in the 2013 season before sustaining his injury against the San Francisco 49ers. He had totaled 18 catches for 192 yards and three touchdowns, and actually led the Texans with 6 catches in Week 5. Daniels was targeted 9 times; only one less than star receiver Andre Johnson. However, Daniels left the game “sore” and, after an MRI, learned that the injury would keep him out for extended time.
The Texans have been through some serious struggles as of late, losing 9 in a row and finding themselves at the bottom of the AFC South at 2-9. There’s no reason to rush Daniels back to action and the team might even consider shutting him down for the season.
