Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez should be available for Thursday night’s contest with the New Orleans Saints. Gonzalez is officially listed as questionable due to his lingering toe injury, but is expected to be ready to take the field.
Gonzalez went through a team walkthrough Wednesday after missing practice Monday and Tuesday, which is a good sign for his fantasy owners. If there is even a slim chance at him being healthy enough to participate, consider him most likely to start and chalk it up to the fact that this is his supposed to be his last season.
Tony Gonzalez being the competitor he is, will play if possible, as he is a vital part of Atlanta’s offense and says he still believes in his Falcons team despite their disappointing 2-8 record, saying “There’s no way I would quit, ever. I have too much pride for that.”
Gonzalez has 54 receptions for 568 yards and 4 touchdowns through 10 games, and is looking to build off his 7 reception 63 yard performance last week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Quarterback Matt Ryan will be looking to Tony Gonzalez for production in situations where he needs a receiver he can trust, giving him decent fantasy appeal for Week 12. Gonzo should be used as a middle to high-end TE1 for Thursday night’s contest.
