Kyle Rudolph injured his foot on a physically impressive 31-yard touchdown recpetion in last weekend’s close loss against the Dallas Cowboys.
Minnesota Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier announced today that the tight end, Rudolph, suffered a fractured foot in the play and will sit out of play for as long as a full month.
Rudolph was one of Vikings quarterback, Christian Ponder’s favorite receiving targets.
In Ponder’s 5 starts this season, he’s targeted Rudolph 24 times.
Ponder is officially starting Thursday’s matchup against the Washington Redskins who are ranked 27th in pass defense, allowing almost 300 passing yards per game.
Expect Ponder to use backup tight end, John Carlson, as a crutch for the passing game, as the Redskins defense will be zoned in on the athletic Vikings receiving core of Greg Jennings, Jerome Simpson and Cordarrelle Patterson.
