Buffalo Bills rookie quarterback E.J. Manuel has been sidelined since Week 5 due to a knee injury. Bills head coach Doug Marrone has recently put a timetable for Manuel to return in 4 to 6 weeks. This will leave Manuel as the odd man out until at least Week 11.
The former Florida State Seminole was drafted 16th overall in the 2013 NFL Draft, the only quarterback taken in the first round. Manuel had a high level of expectations to live up to, especially after being named the teams starting quarterback in Week 1.
The Bills captured their first win of the 2013 Season in Week 2, giving the rookie quarterback his first win at the professional level. Manuel put together a brilliant 4th quarter drive going 80 yards with 1:36 left on the clock, completing a touchdown pass to a wide open Stevie Johnson.
The 6-4, 234 pound quarterback completed almost 57% of his passes throwing for 985 yards, with 5 touchdowns and 3 picks in his first five starts.
Coach Marrone sees Manuel as a premier quarterback and will most likely take his time with his franchise player’s return.
Manuel did put up some consistent fantasy numbers before he got hurt. Fantasy owners might want to consider monitoring his health and adding him to your roster accordingly if you are desperate for a quarterback.
