As if the Giants needed any more bad news, the New York Daily news is reporting that running back David Wilson could miss multiple weeks with what has been described as a disc-related neck injury. Wilson has been struggling with a tingling sensation in his neck that is turning out to be a serious issue.
This leaves Brandon Jacobs and the newly re-signed Da’Rel Scott to fill the void in the Giants backfield. Many fantasy owners remember Scott after he came into the first game of the season after teammate David Wilson fumbled the football twice.
With Scott in the line-up, the Giants get a little bit of versatility in the run game and a decent pass protector to help Eli Manning.
The fantasy impact of Scott filling in for Wilson this week is minimal. Fantasy owners should stay clear of adding Da’Rel Scott to their team as the Giants will struggle to run the ball on Thursday night.
There will also be a time-share between Scott and Jacobs which leaves little to nothing when it comes to fantasy points for owners.
The Chicago Bears are 12th against the run allowing only 98.2 yards a game and the Giants are last in the league in rushing only gaining 56.8 yards on the ground. These two stats spell disaster for Scott and company on Thursday night and should force fantasy owners to look elsewhere for a running back off of the waiver wire.
