Rams Rookie Zac Stacy has only one carry on the season and is hoping for an opportunity this week at home against Jacksonville. With Daryl Richardson struggling the past few weeks, Jeff Fisher is ready to test out the rest of his stable of running backs in a matchup against the worst run defense in the league.
Asked who would start, coach Jeff Fisher stated the Rams will “probably play most, if not all, of the running backs that are active, so it depends on what package we’re in when we start the game.” This is good news for Stacy, who now looks to show the coaches what he can do after being inactive during Weeks 2 and 3.
The Rams fifth round pick was expected to compete for the team’s starting position, but ultimately lost the job to Daryl Richardson. Stacy is known for his speed and shifty running style and could provide a spark to an offense which has been playing from behind much of the year.
Fantasy owners should keep an eye on the backfield situation in this game as Fisher may be impressed by Stacy or any of the other options the Rams will deploy this week. If one of the backs becomes a clear favorite of the coaching staff, a new starter may be named in St. Louis. Stacy is an intriguing back who rushed for over 1,100 yards in each of his last two seasons at Vanderbilt, so he may become a factor if given more of an opportunity after this week.
