Thursday Night Football: Sit or Start Report

Wide receivers have been easting on the Bills secondary

Wide receivers have been feasting on the Bills secondary

Week 5 kicks off this Thursday with the Cleveland Browns taking on the Buffalo Bills. Both teams are coming off big wins in Week 4. The Browns upset division rival Cincinnati Bengals and the Bills downed the defending Super Bowl Champion Baltimore Ravens.

In the past, these teams have not possessed many players with fantasy value, but this season has been a different story. The Bills secondary has allowed three receivers to surpass the 100 yard mark in just the past two weeks. This is very good news for Jordan Cameron and Josh Gordon owners

Start:

Jordan Cameron- Jordan Cameron has been the biggest story in the fantasy tight end world this season. He’s hauled in an impressive 30 receptions for 360 yards and 5 touchdowns. Since quarterback Brian Hoyer has come onto the scene, he has targeted Cameron 23 times in the past two games. Cameron has now become a must start every week.

Josh Gordon- Due to a suspension, Josh Gordon has only played in the past two games this season. However this hasn’t fazed his connection with quarterback Brian Hoyer. During Week 3, Gordon was targeted an impressive 19 times, hauling in 10 of those targets for 146 yards and a touchdown.

Last week against the Bengals, he brought in another 4 receptions for 71 yards. The Buffalo Bills have the 22nd best pass defense in the league, so expect Gordon to continue his streak of solid play.

Fred Jackson- With C.J. Spiller’s status questionable for Thursday’s game due to an ankle injury, expect Fred Jackson to get an increased work load. Jackson is battling a knee injury, but that hasn’t prevented him from taking advantage of his opportunities as he has rushed 23 times for 159 yards for an impressive 7.9 yards per carry in the past two games. He will definitely be worth at least a flex option this week.

Sit:

C.J. Spiller- C.J. Spiller is listed as questionable for the Thursday night game against the Cleveland Browns due to an ankle injury. He did not practice Monday, and he doesn’t even know if he will be able to play on Thursday. Even if he does suit up, expect a majority of the carries to be given to Fred Jackson.

Steve Johnson- Steve Johnson pulled off something in Week 4 that fantasy owners do not see every day. He hauled in one reception for -1 yards. The Cleveland Browns have the ninth best pass defense so far this season. Johnson has been pretty hot and cold this season. In 4 games, he has posted 39, 111, 86 and -1 receiving yards. If you have the ability to bench him against the Browns, make sure you do it.
