CJ Spiller’s nightmare season continued on Sunday in the Bills surprise win over the Ravens as he sprained his ankle in the third quarter. Struggling to get going throughout the game (65 yards on 25 carries before the injury), Spiller was clearly limping and in pain afterwards.
For now, Spiller is listed as questionable after x-rays showed no structural damage. His status however, is very much up in the air for the Bills Thursday night clash with the Browns. Spiller insists he will do whatever it takes to be on the field.
“I’m going to do as much treatment as I can to get ready for Thursday, but it’s a short week, so it’s going to be tough,” Spiller said. “If I can go out there at least 85 or 90 percent, I’m going to play.”
The news comes as another tough blow for Spiller fantasy owners. A first round draft choice in most leagues, Spiller hasn’t thrived in Doug Marrone’s system as many had hoped.
Spiller owners may now feel like it’s time to panic, but it’s still far too early to jump ship on many people’s first round pick. While expectations may need to be hampered from here on out, owners need to hold onto Spiller until he’s had a fair chance to turn his season around.
