With the New England Patriots offense struggling mightily in the season’s first two games, many think the answer is letting their all-pro tight end, Rob Gronkowski, suit up for action. Gronkowski has been practicing more and more with the team over the last two weeks and is “50-50” to play this week according to ESPN’s Ed Werder.
However, it looks like the team will be erring on the side of caution this week. The team faces the 0-2 Tampa Bay Buccaneers and seems in no rush to hurry the healing process for Gronk. With wideout, Danny Amendola, out for an extended period of time, the Patriots don’t feel they can risk sending Gronkowski out into game action too soon.
The team is also looking to get one more week of practice under Gronk’s belt. The Patriots are making sure they get a 100% healthy Gronkowski when they do decide to let him play.
For fantasy owners, this news is nothing new as Gronkowski has been listed as questionable the past two weeks. While Gronk continues to sit on your bench, it seems this may be the last week of rest for the star tight end.
