Running back James Starks has been the named the starter for Week 3 at Cincinnati after Eddie Lacy suffered a concussion during last Sunday’s Redskins game. Once Lacy was knocked out of the game, Starks came into the game and broke free rushing 20 times for 132 yards and a touchdown.
Lac was present at Wednesday’s practice which means he is making progress with the NFL’s concussion tests. However, Lacy is unlikely to play at all against the Bengals while Johnathan Franklin backs up Starks.
The Packers 4th week of the season is a bye week so Lacy will have the chance to gain extra rest before the Packers welcome in Detroit for a Week 5 matchup.
Owners that drafted Lacy should have pushed hard to gain Starks off waivers. Franklin has trouble blocking, so the Packers will use him as a change of pace back or on third downs which does not help most fantasy teams. As Lacy may be facing some bench time, Starks is going against a stiff Bengals defense that only allows 95 yards rushing a game.
