Eddie Lacy fantasy owners ran into a double dose of trouble on Sunday while the Packers were wiping up the field with the Washington Redskins. Lacy left the game with a concussion and James Starks came in and ran all over the Redskins. Starks dominated on the ground, becoming the first Packers player to rush for more than 100 yards in a game in over two years.
After finishing with 132 yards on the ground and a touchdown, Starks is once again on the fantasy radar. Starks now has the opportunity to become a focal point of the Green Bay offense. If Lacy is to miss any time, Starks should receive the lion’s share of carries and provide the team with a pass catching threat out of the backfield (4 receptions for 36 yards, Sunday.)
Fantasy owners in need of a running back should target Starks off the waiver wire this week, but should also limit their expectations. While Starks is likely to start if Lacy misses time, he will not get to carry the ball against the Redskins and their horrible defense each week.
Green Bay also abandons the running game at times, which is another big factor in their 100 yard rushing drought. Starks deserves the fantasy attention and could provide a big spark for team’s that are shallow at the running back position.
