During the first two games of the season, Chargers wide receiver Eddie Royal has been on fire. In two weeks he’s hauled in 5 touchdown catches with only a total of only 14 targets. Philip Rivers lost another one of his top receivers on Sunday against the Eagles and needs to really start keying in on Royal while he’s still hot.
Eddie Royal is quickly becoming one of the top receivers in the NFL, but that won’t last unless Rivers starts looking for him more on the playing field. On sunday against the Eagles, Royal caught 7 passes for 90 yards and 3 touchdowns. No Chargers player has ever collected 5 touchdowns in 2 games since Antonio Gates did it in 2004. Eddie Royal has tied his career high in touchdowns and it is only the second game of the season.
Judging players on touchdown production is a tough way to succeed in fantasy football, but Royal appears to be sustaining his relevance so far this season.
Fantasy owners should definitely take a look at Eddie Royal if he hasn’t already been scooped up off of the waiver wire. Royal will have very favorable matchups this season including playing the Oakland Raiders twice. Fantasy owners will be able to play Royal as a flex start or potential WR2 fill in if need be. The time to get him is now, he will be long gone by Week 3.
