The Dolphins managed to defeat the Browns on Sunday afternoon 23-10, and wide receiver Brian Hartline was a major part of that victory.
Hartline had 9 receptions on 15 targets for 114 yards and a touchdown. Hartline led the team in targets, receptions and receiving yards even with the new addition of Mike Wallace.
A key reason why Hartline was able to produce such big numbers was the lack of a running game for the Dolphins. Lamar Miller and Daniel Thomas combined for a disappointing 17 yards on 18 carries. Cleveland’s underrated defensive front dominated Miami’s rushing attack, and as a result, Hartline benefited greatly in the passing game.
Fellow receiver Mike Wallace did not have the debut he wanted. Wallace was often double teamed and was only able to pull in one catch for 15 yards. While Wallace is the more talented receiver between the two, Hartline should be able to capitalize throughout the season with the amount of attention defenses will give Mike Wallace.
Hartline isn’t going to put up these type of fantastic numbers every week, but he could be a savvy free-agent pickup in your fantasy league. He’s currently only owned in just 60 percent of leagues, so you might be able to grab him through the waiver wire this week.
