Stevan Ridley owners can breathe a sigh of relief due to the fact that Shane Vereen will likely be out for the next 3-4 weeks because of a broken bone in his hand. Ridley got benched yesterday after a costly fumble against the Bills and Vereen came into the game and stole the show.

Ridley rushed for 101 yards on just 14 carries and helped propel the Patriots past the Bills. Just as all eyes were turning to Vereen, it was revealed that he broke a bone in his hand during the very first play of the game and will undergo surgery on his wrist.

This means that Ridley’s job is likely safe for now while Verneen heals. If Ridley can put up big numbers while Vereen is absent, he would likely retain his starting role as if Week 1 had never happened. It all depends on how quickly Vereen can get back up to hundred percent.
