New York Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes is expected to see limited action during Week 1 against Tampa. It’s been almost a year since Holmes has been on the field after suffering a severe Lisfranc injury during Week 4 last season.
Barring a setback, Holmes is expected to play, but coaches will be keeping a close eye on him and limiting his time on the field. Holmes is the only true receiving option that the Jets have, so they can’t really afford to lose him for the season. Almost every receiver on the New York Jets roster has some sort of injury, which leaves all of them with little to no fantasy value.
Fantasy owners who drafted Holmes should keep him on the bench this week because even when he plays, he will have to deal with former teammate Darrelle Revis guarding him. Holmes may have some fantasy upside this season, but the Jets must find some consistency at the quarterback position first.
