It’s FINALLY time! The 2013 regular season kicks off tonight, with the defending champion Baltimore Ravens matching up against the Denver Broncos. Montee Ball, Ronnie Hillman and Knowshon Moreno fantasy owners are pretty much out of luck when trying to decide which back to start tonight.
As of yesterday, Moreno is still officially listed as the third running back on the Bronco’s depth chart. However, there have been several reports out of Denver that there is still a good chance he will take the lead rushing role in tonight’s game.
However, Moreno remains a risky start on a fantasy team, as his main role is likely to be comprised of pass blocking, rather than actual running. Although the young back finished last season on a positive note, the Broncos are still expected to use him as more of a decoy if he gets the start.
Between Denver’s highly competitive backfield, featuring 3 relatively equal backs, and John Fox’s tendency to use multiple rushers, it is very hard to say what is really going to happen tonight in Denver.
Moreno seems to be more useful as a blocker while his teammates, Ronnie Hillman and Montee Ball, look more likely to get the carries. Fantasy owners should be wary of starting any of these 3 backs tonight against Baltimore.
