For the second consecutive season, quarterback Matt Flynn signed with a new NFL team in hopes of finally becoming a starter. However, if Terrelle Pryor plays decently tonight, he will likely become the starter in Oakland.
During the preseason, Pryor is 14 for 24 passing attempts with 190 passing yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception. Though he’s been a below average passer, he’s also racked up 83 yards and 1 rushing touchdown on just 11 carries.
As we all know in fantasy, running quarterbacks can put up some impressive numbers. But Pryor’s difficulties as a pocket passer may hold him back from any significant fantasy success.
Pryor has issues with reading opposing defenses, decision-making, footwork and more. Though many believe he’s looked like a smarter quarterback throughout the preseason, he’s still having issues with his accuracy.
Still, if Pryor can accumulate just a solid amount of passing stats to tack onto his rushing stats, he may not be the worst backup option. If he could put up about 150 passing yards, 30 to 40 rushing yards, and 1 to 2 total touchdowns a game, he could rack up a decent amount of points.
Pryor is likely going undrafted in fantasy, as the Raiders final decision may not be made until next week. In that case, he’s worth being on your watch list and might be a number 3 quarterback option in 2 quarterback formats.
