As the NFL season inches closer and closer, millions of fantasy football players prepare for their fantasy drafts. While most scour the web for fantasy sleepers who can help them win their league championship, it’s just as important to know which players you MUST, at all costs, steer clear of in your draft.
Ronnie Hillman – The Broncos currently have Hillman listed as their starting running back. However, he is draped in red flags with rookie Montee Ball right behind him on the depth chart and his inability to hold onto the ball. Fantasy owners should steer well clear of Hillman, even if he remains the starting running back, which he probably won’t.
Any Jets Quarterback – It doesn’t matter if Mark Sanchez or Geno Smith starts week 1 for the Jets, do not draft either quarterback. The circus going on for the Jets quarterback spot is no secret and neither Smith nor Sanchez have awed in the preseason. Sanchez is now injured and Smith is doling out interceptions to opposing defenses at an alarming rate.
Felix Jones – Felix Jones was recently traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers soon after rookie running back Le’Veon Bell suffered a partially torn foot ligament. Many fantasy owners may see this as an opportunity to jump on a big sleeper running back. However, Jonathan Dwyer appears to be locked into the starting role for the Steelers. Barring an injury to Dwyer, Jones will likely see very few carries in the Steelers backfield.
Kenny Britt – Titans’ wide receiver Kenny Britt has the ability to put up big numbers. This can misguide fantasy owners making them think he could have big sleeper value. However, Britt is very injury prone and would surprise most people if he stayed healthy for the entire 2013 season. On top of that, having Jake Locker throwing to him only adds onto Britt’s high fantasy bust value.
Riley Cooper – The Eagles’ wide receivers have been dropping like flies since the beginning of training camp, This has allowed Riley Cooper to slip into a starting position opposite of DeSean Jackson. Expect Jackson to see the majority of the targets this season whether it’s Michael Vick or Nick Foles who gets the nod. Cooper should not be considered as a fantasy option in this year’s deep wide receiver fantasy draft.
