Draft Zone: 5th Ranked Wide Receiver – Bears Brandon Marshall

Chicago Bears’ Brandon Marshall is the 5th ranked wide receiver in this year’s fantasy draft standings. With an Average Draft Position (ADP) of 19, he’s likely to be taken in the second round of most standard 12-person fantasy drafts.

Marshall is coming off the best season of his career and is primed once again be one of the best receivers in the league. In 2012 he hauled in career highs with 118 receptions, 1,508 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns. In his seven seasons in the NFL, Marshall has recorded 1,000 or more receiving yards six times, the lone exception being his rookie season.

While minor injuries have plagued the receiver throughout his career, they have never been serious enough for him to miss more than two games in a season. Marshall has missed just five games through his seven seasons as a pro. He did miss the 2012 Pro Bowl due to arthroscopic hip surgery, but he is fit and ready to play.

Marshall and quarterback Jay Cutler had an uncanny connection during their time in Denver, and were reconnected last season when the Miami Dolphins traded Marshall to the Bears. Having another season to mesh together, Cutler and Marshall will be one of the most potent quarterback-wide receiver duos in the league this year.

Marshall is a standout fantasy wide receiver and should continue to perform at a very high level in 2013. He’s certainly good for more than 1,100 receiving yards and probably close to 100 receptions. Whether you play in a PPR (point per reception) league or a standard league, Brandon Marshall should come off the draft board no later than the second round.
