Peyton Manning of the Denver Broncos is the 3rd ranked quarterback in this year’s 2013 fantasy draft standings. With an Average Draft Position (ADP) of 22, he’s likely to be a late second or early third round selection.
Peyton Manning is undoubtedly one of the best quarterbacks of all time, and has not slowed down with age whatsoever. The 37-year-old put up one of hist best seasons in 2012, throwing 400 completions for 4,659 yards and 37 touchdowns. Manning put up these astounding numbers after sitting out 2011 because of four separate neck surgeries. Manning had nothing left to prove to anyone except himself when he signed with Broncos last season.
If for some reason his talent and history did not speak for itself, then Peyton’s team alone could represent what kind of fantasy opportunity is possible for the 2013 season. Manning has a receiver corps that is second to none with the dynamic trio of wide receivers that include Demaryius Thomas, Eric Decker and the new addition of Wes Welker. He also has a pair of talented tight ends with Jacob Tamme and Joel Dreessen.
Several players from last year’s team think that Manning appears to be in much better shape physically than he was a year ago. Any concerns there were about Manning gripping the ball seem to have gone away with the coming of a new season.
Coming into his 14th season, Manning is the 3rd ranked quarterback, but has the opportunity to be number one at his position if he uses his assets accordingly. Manning should be taken in the middle of the second round or higher in standard 12 team fantasy formats.
