A nightmare scenario is taking place in the Steel City as rookie running back Le’Veon Bell has been diagnosed with a Lisfranc injury and might need surgery to correct the problem.
The Steelers are reportedly very frustrated and fantasy owners are feeling sick to their stomachs this afternoon.
Surgery would obviously make a bad situation much worse in Pittsburgh for the rookie who was supposed to help the Steelers bounce back from a dismal 8-8 2012 season.
Even if Bell didn’t need surgery, he would need a minimum of 6-8 weeks to recover, which puts the Steelers well into the regular season and possibly far beyond that.
Fantasy owners who burned that draft pick are fuming and the Steelers will likely return to the running back by committee system that won’t work any better this year than it did last season.
