The Oakland Raiders Darren McFadden is the 18th ranked running back in this year’s 2013 fantasy draft standings. With an Average Draft Position (ADP) of 33, he’s likely to be taken late in the third round of most 12 team fantasy drafts.
Darren McFadden is clearly a force to be reckoned with, but has been battling injury issues since his college days back in Arkansas. In five NFL seasons, the injury-prone 1st round draft pick from 2008 has never managed to play in more than 13 games in one year.
Despite playing only 13 games in 2010, McFadden was able to rack up a stunning 1,167 rushing yards (5.2 yards per carry) along with 7 touchdowns. McFadden will turn 26-years-old at the end of the month and the 2013 season may be a make or break year for the bruiser back.
Matt Flynn is in line to become the starting quarterback for the Raiders, and will need help from the experienced running back in order to get acclimated to the Oakland offense. If McFadden can establish good rapport with Flynn from the start, that could mean a lot for his production in the passing game as well as on the ground.
McFadden needs to remain healthy in order to have a successful year, and should be looked at as a very risky 3rd round pick for standard 12 team leagues.
