Robert Griffin III got a clean bill of health from orthopedic specialists to resume practicing with the Redskins.
Griffin Tweeted the news Monday afternoon that doctors cleared him to practice and that the coach would ease him in.
Griffin says his goal is to be ready by the season opener. Multiple reports out of Washington state that the Redskins quarterback is “adamant” about practicing as much as possible. RG3 is determined to follow the recovery time table set last year by Vikings superstar Adrian Peterson.
A-P spent the first 16 days of last year’s training camp on the active/PUP list proving to coaches he was ready for full contact drills. Peterson did not play a single down during the preseason as the Minnesota Vikings needed him fully healthy for the start the regular season.
The Washington Redskins have no need for RG3 to go all out in preseason let alone in training camp. Dr. James Andrews has been amazed by RG3’s recovery and stated back in March that RG3 was “superhuman”.
Expect RG3’s fantasy average draft position to blow up during the next few weeks. Once projected to go somewhere in the sixth round, the sky is now the limit as RG3 Mania takes hold again around the country.
Drafting Griffin III that early is a high-risk, high reward option. Even if he’s healthy to start the season, he plays a high-risk game that always leaves him one hit away from the next nagging or devastating injury. But the points he scores week in and week out will make him an attractive option across the board.
