Cowboys Running Back DeMarco Murray Doubtful for Week 9

RB – DeMarco Murray –

Injured Cowboy’s running back DeMarco Murray still hasn’t returned to the practice field. This is bad news for fantasy owners as it’s beginning to look like Murray will miss Week 9 on the road against the unbeaten Falcons.

The coaching staff says they are hopeful that Murray is ready to shed the walking boot and get rid of the crutches. This doesn’t sound like a player that is ready to jog, much less start at running back against Atlanta.

Keep in mind that Murray has not been officially ruled out and still has a chance to play. But it’s much more likely that Felix Jones will get the start for the Cowboys for at least one more week.

Punishing Schedule Ahead for Vikings, Percy Harvin

WR– Percy Harvin –

Vikings WR Percy Harvin has been nothing short of a stud during the first 9 weeks of the fantasy season. Harvin has failed to crack the double-digit mark just twice this season. But the first 9 games for the Vikings were a cakewalk compared to the rest of Minnesota’s schedule.

That’s why this might be a very good time to shop Harvin. His trade value is sky-high and the offense in Minnesota is hanging by a thread.

The potential problem is NOT Harvin or his ability, it’s his starting quarterback. Christian Ponder has had one good game against a really tough defense this year, his Week 3 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. Aside from that, he’s struggled against every quality defense he’s faced this season.

4 of the next 5 games for the Vikings include Seattle, Detroit and Chicago twice. Harvin will find ways to score, but his production will almost certainly take a hit during the second half of the season. He is a top five player right now and his value should reflect that with any trade offers you make.

How Much Does Giants RB Ahmad Bradshaw Have Left in the Tank?

RB – Ahmad Bradshaw –

As we approach Week 9 in the National Football League, Giants RB Ahmad Bradshaw is still dealing with a sore foot. Owning Bradshaw is a week-to-week rollercoaster ride – It’s always feast or famine with him.

Bradshaw went on a tear starting Week 5 where he rang up 26 fantasy points against the Cleveland Browns. But his numbers have been on the decline since then and he posted a measly 5 points during Week 8 against the Cowboys.

But running backs like Bradshaw don’t grow on trees and his trade value is very strong right now. Andre Brown is slowly-but-surely creeping back into the picture and Bradshaw can’t seem to leave his foot troubles behind.

The bottom line is that Bradshaw will have a few more great games and a few more stinkers – it never hurts to test the trade market and see what you can get for him.

Cashing in on Dallas QB Tony Romo

QB – Tony Romo –

Love him or hate him, Dallas QB Tony Romo is averaging 19 fantasy points per contest during his last three games after cracking the 20-point mark for the third time this season against the Giants.

Romo threw for 437 yards and a touchdown against the G-Men but marred his performance with 4 picks on the day.

Romo has certainly had an up and down season, but there are plenty of fantasy football owners that would be glad to have him. Of course it all comes down to the needs of each individual fantasy owner, but Romo could certainly help bring in some high quality talent to almost any fantasy team.

Panthers WR Brandon LaFell Worth a Look

WR– Brandon LaFell –

Panthers WR Brandon LaFell enjoyed a nice game during Week 8 against the hard-hitting Bears defense. LaFell rang up 88 yards on three catches before he got his bell rung by Bears safety Chris Conte.

The good news is that he was able to return to the game after the hit and should be ready to go this week against a suspect Redskins pass defense.

LaFell caught a touchdown during Week 7 against the Cowboys and has been able to string together two decent fantasy games in a row. LaFell could be a very sneaky flex play against the Redskins on the road during Week 9.

Packers Running Back Alex Green is a Joke

RB – Alex Green –

After three straight weeks of non-production, the goofy Green Bay coaching staff has once again expressed complete confidence in their inadequate running back Alex Green.

Good for the Packers organization for championing mediocrity at the running back position week after week.

During the past three games, Green carried the ball 64 times for a whopping 154 yards averaging a woeful 2.4 yards per carry. Either the coaching staff has a real problem with James Starks or Alex Green has the goods on all of them.

Green rushed for 54 yards on 22 carries during Week 8 against a patchy Jaguars defense and Packers coach Mike McCarthy wasted no time naming him the Week 9 starter against the Arizona Cardinals.

Titans WR Kendall Wright Becoming Fantasy Relevant

WR– Kendall Wright –

Tennessee WR Kendall Wright found the end zone for his third touchdown of the year during Week 8 against the Colts. Little by little, Wright is becoming one of the top targets for the Tennessee quarterbacks – No matter who is under center.

Kenny Britt and Nate Washington are still the top two options in the passing game, but Wright is the one who’s starting to find the end zone.

The problem is that Tennessee is a run first and pass second oriented team. Wright seems to total his best yardage against some of the tougher pass defenses in the league.

He has a tough matchup this weekend at home against the hard-hitting Chicago Bears defense, but he’s worth a look if you are desperate for a Week 9 flex option.
